Understanding the needs and challenges of international veterinarians when seeking job opportunities abroad.
Role: Research lead
Global Vet Connet
Client
A global veterinary assessment organisation that helps veterinarians qualify to practice in other countries.
Project background
With the growing demand for veterinary professionals, my client aimed to expand their services by developing a platform to connect international vets with job opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.
The primary goal of this platform is to simplify the process for veterinarians seeking employment abroad while providing resources and support throughout their job search journey.

My role
To validate this business concept and determine the ideal time to engage with veterinarians, I was hired to lead the research to understand the needs and challenges of international veterinarians when seeking job opportunities abroad.
My challenge
This research project is very special for me as this is the very first time the organisation
has undertaken such intense user research involving a diverse group of executive stakeholders, plus marketing, customer service, CX team and multiple product owners.
1. Stakeholder alignment
The primary challenge was the alignment among stakeholders with different perspectives.
🛠️ To bridge this gap, I facilitated several workshops:
-
to brainstorm ideas,
-
encouraging open communication (with my secret magic workshop skills),
-
ensuring everyone's voices were heard.
2. Recruiting diverse participants under tight deadline
Another challenge was finding the right participants within a strict deadline.
We wanted to gather insights from a diverse range of participants at various stages of their job search, specifically from certain countries.
However, it was difficult to locate and recruit them.
🛠️ To address this issue, we conducted a participant type analysis:
-
to consider the pros and cons of each type,
-
to consider the unique insights each type could provide,
-
to assess the feasibility of finding each type within the timeframe.
Through this analysis, we were able to create a well-balanced participant list and define a research methodology that met our research needs and time constraints.
